I'm working on a new video episode, it should be out next week but in the meantime I thought I'd post this old unreleased episode. Before I started DQYNJ, I made two test episodes called "CAREER DAY" and decided a video tagalong of me attempting the job would be way cooler than just two dudes talkin shop.
This is a conversation I had with my buddy Todd McComas about what it's like being a police detective. He shares some crazy stories about being undercover and being forced to strip naked to prove he wasn't wearing a wire. How the drug dealer didn't know he was a cop when he saw his GIANT BALLS OF STEEL is anybody's guess.
The most fascinating part of this, and why I wanted to dust this off from the vault. Is talking about all these episodes of police misconduct caught on video. His opinion is that the police training may be part of the problem. They go through all these scenarios in training and every time some dude jumps out of the closet with a machete.
Imagine if you're a new pilot and EVERY training simulation ends with a bird strike. I think you're gonna be a little on edge about birds. Taking off, you're gonna shoot the missiles at birds that get anywhere near your plane. If Airbuses came with missiles. That's probably a bad analogy but I just saw that Sully movie. LOL.
Here's a couple youtube examples of what I'm talking about.
This is one of the videos I was talking about: https://youtu.be/q1q41OMvvbM
This is another one of the videos I was talking about: https://youtu.be/yfi3Ndh3n-g
In those videos, I just don't feel like those are realistic scenarios. At the same time, I understand training for unrealistic or unlikely situations can be very helpful. I think maybe there's a better way to do it.
Anyway, fascinating stuff. Todd has lived a crazy lifestyle. If you see him on a comedy lineup near you, go check it out. http://Toddcomedy.com. Also, next time a police officer is being a dick for no reason, give them a break, they have a tough job.
